Annual Report

THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2010-11 & 2011-12 UPTO

30 NOV 2011

As the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tuli is celebrating its Annual Day; I am privileged to present the Annual Report on this auspicious occasion.

Education is the backbone of a nation. Proper education can contribute to the creation of healthy minds and worthy citizens. If we want to survive and progress in this new world order, we have to enrich ourselves with adequate knowledge and skills. In India, we face a major challenge of preparing young minds for facing the challenges of the 21st Century and the best way to tide over this obstacle is by providing quality education to all.

We are proud to be part of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan which is one of the premier organizations imparting quality education.  I am proud of its significant growth and recognition of its contribution. With the promotion of ICT in our Vidyalayas we are striving to improve  the efficiency and effectiveness of education moving from effective teaching to inspired learning.

ADMISSION

This is one of the grey areas in our Vidyalaya.  Though all out efforts are made to increase the strength of the Vidyalaya but there has not been much improvement in this direction.  This year we had admitted 30 students out of 31 registered for admission in various classes.  I appeal the Hon’ble guests and dear parents present here to motivate people to admit their wards in our school.

IMPLEMENTATION OF RTE ACT.

The Kendriya  Vidyalayas are placed under “specified category of schools” under section 2 (p).  such schools are obliged to grant admission in class I to the extent of 25% of class strength to the children belonging to weaker section and disadvantaged group in the neighbourhood and provide free and compulsory elementary education till its completion (Section 12 (1) © ). Further I am pleased to announce that under this Act no fee to be collected from the children admitted under the Act (25%) including Admission fees, Computer fees. The following concessions are extended to the children admitted under the Act :-

(a)               One set of NCERT text books for his/her class to each child will be provided by the school.

(b)               Two sets of Uniform                          - Rs 1500/-

(c)               Books and stationery                        - Rs1000/- (per child per annum)

(d)               Transportation                                   - Rs 2000/- (per child per annum)

The expenditure incurred on note books, stationery, uniform and transport will be reimbursed on production of proper bills by the concerned parent in respect of 25% of the children admitted under the Act.

This year, despite of well advertised admission notification, we have only 03 students admitted under RTE Act.

SCHOOL RESULTS

Our Vidyalaya is producing 100% results over the last three years including current academic year. 10 students in the AISSCE  (XIIth) and 09 students in AISSE (Xth) exam 2011 passed out with flying colours. Here I take pride to announce that Rajesh Kumar Poddar scored 10.0 CGPA in the Xth  exam whose name can also be found on the CBSE website. Furthermore Shilpi Kumari Singh topped the list with 76% in class XIIth. Needless to mention that our sincere efforts to further the results will never come to an end.

CCE

The Vidyalaya has been successfully following the criterion laid by CBSE and directed by KVS for implementation of continuous comprehensive evaluation policy up to class Xth. Continuous and comprehensive evaluation refers to a system of school based evaluation of students that covers all aspects  of  a student’s development.  It is a developmental process of a child which emphasizes on two fold objectives. These objectives are continuity in evaluation   on one hand and assessment of broad based learning and behavioral outcomes on the other.  The term continuous is meant to emphasize the evaluation of identified aspects of students growth and development is a continuous process rather than an event, built into the total teaching learning process and spread over the entire span of academic session.  It means regularity of assessment  diagnosis of learning gaps, use of corrective measures and feed back of evidence to teachers and students for their self evaluation. The second term comprehensive means that the scheme attempts to cover both the scholastic and the co scholastic aspects of students  growth and development.

We provide ample opportunities to students to show their talents in various fields. Science Exhibitions and Social Science Exhibitions are some of such activities.  Here I would like to announce that the model presented by Rajesh Kumar Poddar which was prepared by our Ex PGT (Biology) Mr. P.V. Pradeep, bagged 2nd position in the National Level Science Exhibition, 2010. This year also the models prepared by the Vidyalaya students could make their way to the National Level Science Exhibition.

Students of Class IX & X even participated in JMO i.e. Junior Maths Olympic conducted at K.V. Dimapur, result of which is awaited. Also our students participated in Green Olympiad, a National level competition.

CCA

Throughout the year, we have been conducting various activities under Co Curricular Activities programmes for the all-round development of the pupils. Among these, at Primary level we conduct house wise competitions such as pick and perform, group dance, drawing and painting, fancy dress, Hindi story telling, solo dance, English handwriting etc….At secondary level greeting card making, Hindi/English calligraphy, debate,  Essay writing, Mono acting English quiz and many more competitions are being org from time to time.

We have also been celebrating various days and the weeks of importance in the Vidyalaya to promote holistic development, Communal Harmony and to inculcate values in the students.  Such as World Health Day,  Dr Ambedakar’s Birthday, World Population Day, National Energy and Conversation Day, Swami Vivekanand’s Birthday, Hindi Pakhwara and many more.

CMP (Common Minimum Programme for Primary Education)

In Primary classes, our emphasis is on the activity based learning for which we are providing funds under CMP.

TET AND HIKE IN REMUNERATION FOR CONTRACTUAL TRS

Due to shortage of regular staff in the Vidyalaya we need to resort to the contractual appointment of teachers who meet the requisite criteria. This year onwards the TET has been made mandatory for appointment in the KVS both for regular Trs upto TGTs and contractual Tr. In order to further promote this KVS has increased the remuneration for contractual teachers.  I am glad to say that the average hike in their remuneration has been almost doubled especially in the Very Hard Stations like in our case.  Necessary advertisement is made for the vacant posts well in advance.

Nevertheless we are putting our best to cope up with the requirements of our students. In nut shell, the Vidyalaya is posted with 19 employees out of 34 sanctioned posts.

IT EDUCATION

We have a well-equipped Computer lab with Internet connectivity wherein we have 08 computers with latest configuration. Our PGT (CS) & PGT (HINDI) attended 1 day workshop at KV Duliajan for preparing e-content for e-classroom proposed in near future. Students are given maximum opportunity to make optimum utilization of the facility. The present computer – pupil ratio is 1: 5 which is considered extra ordinary by any standard.

GAMES AND SPORTS

As is evident to one and all, due to non availability of adequate space or the sports ground, much towards this important aspect is not feasible. Notwithstanding this year some of the students participated in the Regional level Games & Sports activities held at K.V. Sivasagar.  However, students are given ample opportunities to enjoy indoor games.    Our annual sports meet for this year concluded recently in the month of Nov 2011.
